Marvel Studio and Walt Disney’s Avengers: Endgame toppled James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar (2009) to become the highest-earning movie of all time. Avatar had held the record for the highest grosser for around a decade.

As on 22nd July, the final chapter in the Marvel superhero saga had collected an estimated $2,790.2 billion in theatres worldwide, surging ahead of the $2,789.7 billion that Avatar had earned.

And team Avatar took to Twitter to congratulate Marvel Studios on this remarkable feat. In the picture shared, Iron Man is seen dancing with Pandora creatures.

To get to the top spot, Avengers: Endgame also released a new theatrical release of the film in June that included a deleted scene and a special tribute. The movie was originally released in April 2019.

In the process of becoming the top grosser of all time, Avengers: Endgame also surpassed other iconic movies such as Titanic, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of the 22-film story about Marvel superheroes. It was one of the most anticipated movies of the year and featured an ensemble cast that included Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, and Mark Ruffalo among others. It was also one of the most expensive movies made with an estimated budget of over $350 million. However, apart from garnering box office success, the movie has also gained widespread critical acclaim, with critics applauding the movie for its direction, acting, music, and visual effects.
