All you Game of Thrones fans out there, here is some fantastic news for you!

George RR Martin is now working on a stage version of Game of Thrones for Broadway, the West End, and Australia!

Yes, you heard it right!

The bestselling author is collaborating with the British pair of playwright Duncan MacMillan and director Dominic Cooke to bring his loved popular characters for this production.

The story will apparently revolve around the Great Tourney at Harrenhal, an event that was hinted about by various characters but was never explored in detail. It apparently was a contest that occurred 16 years before the events of the first book and episode.

“The play will for the first time take audiences deeper behind the scenes of a landmark event that previously was shrouded in mystery,” the official description reads. “Featuring many of the most iconic and well-known characters from the series, the production will boast a story centered around love, vengeance, madness and the dangers of dealing in prophecy, in the process revealing secrets and lies that have only been hinted at until now.”

The play is expected to open in 2023, debuting in London, New York, and Australia.

The fantasy drama series for HBO attracted a record viewership and had a massive international fan following. The series received 59 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most by a drama series, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
