Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan announces competition for budding filmmakers

Many industries across the world are struggling to sustain due to the coronavirus pandemic. The aviation, hospitality, and entertainment industry are primarily facing the brunt of the lockdowns and quarantine.

In such a scenario, Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan, one of the most popular actors in the Asian nation with a massive fan base across the world, came up with a fantastic competition for budding directors. He announced a contest on social media, calling out filmmakers from across the nation to shoot a scary movie indoors by following social distancing guidelines.

On Twitter, he put up a message that said, “Since we’ve all got a bit of time on our hands in quarantine, thought I can get us all to work a bit… in a fun, creative and… spooky way! #SpookSRK”

All you have to do is send in your video entries to teamdigital@redchillies.com by 18th of May.

And entries will be judged by director Patrick Graham, actors Viineet Kumar, Aahana Kumra, and Gaurav Verma on “basis the concept, creativity, execution uniqueness and validity of the entries of entrants.”

The project is a collaboration between SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, SK Global, and Blumhouse Productions, the banner that is known for its Hollywood horror productions.

Recently, the very loved and popular actor was in news for contributing generously for the relief efforts towards the coronavirus pandemic. He announced a series of philanthropic initiatives through his business ventures to help the Indian government fight against COVID-19.

His Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders donated to the PM CARES Fund whereas his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment donated towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Maharashtra, the state where the actor resides. He also pledged to donate around 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to healthcare professionals and medical workers across states in India, along with providing food requirements to over 5,500 less privileged families. He also pledged to provide 3 lakh meal kits to 10,000 to underprivileged people and daily wage labourers for at least a month in Mumbai. Further, he offered his 4-storey personal office as a quarantine facility for treating COVID-19 patients.
