Federer Helps Switzerland Win a Record Hopman Cup

Federer helps Switzerland win a record Hopman Cup

Swissman Roger Federer teamed up with Belinda Bencic and helped Switzerland defend the Hopman Cup. In the process, Switzerland became the first nation ever to do so. They beat the German pair of Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber 4-0 1-4 4-3 (5-4) in the deciding mixed doubles match at Perth. The result of this match was a replay of 2018 when the same pairs had played against each other.

In winning this match, Federer has won a record three Hopman titles, which is more than any other player. His first win was in 2001 followed by the second in 2018.

The Hopman Cup is named after Harry Hopman, a legendary Australian tennis player and coach. The tournament is held in January annually.
