The ICC Cricket World Cup is here. The cricket mania is on and cricket fans across the world couldn’t be more excited. Which team are you rooting for?
Without further ado, here are my top 4 picks for cricket World Cup 2k19.
The Invincible India
Team India is bleeding blue, not having lost even a single match till now as I sit down in my balcony going clickity-clack on my laptop. The Indian team boasts of many world-class players. Whether it is the world’s best batsman Virat Kohli scoring magic from his bat or the prolific Rohit Sharma, for whom numbers speak. The opening pair of Rohit “hitman” Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan can, to put it subtly, knock the daylights out of the best of the teams.
The X-factor is obviously the former captain of the Indian cricket team and one of the most successful wicketkeepers of all time – M.S. Dhoni. This is a player whose cricketing strategies are par excellence. The Indian team has managed to add all the major trophies to their kitty under his leadership.
Also, the bowling prowess of Jasprit Bumrah is difficult to beat. The spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are spinning the opponents left, right and centre.
India won its first World Cup in 1983 at the Lord’s cricket ground. History might repeat itself if the team continues its winning streak.
The Energetic England
All the eleven from team England have a way with the bat, a feat that is difficult to find in any other team. The team is at its aggressive best to break the drought of a World Cup win. The home advantage is surely going to help them massively.
In the form that they are currently, crossing the 350 marks in most of their matches seems like a cakewalk. Jos Buttler, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes – you can trust them all to stand up when it matters most.
If their current performance continues, this could be England’s moment of glory.
The Awesome Australia
History itself speaks for team Australia. Since 1999, Australia has won all the ICC World Cup trophies except for one. It has been seen that in whatever form the team is in general, the World Cup brings out the best in all players. The consistency of the team makes them a great bid for the title.
Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are the star performers for the team. Starc had a major role to play in the 2015 Aussie sweep of the World Cup title. David Warner and Aaron Finch are unstoppable in their current form. The team has a mix of left-handed and right-handed players, giving them an edge over others.
The Nimble New Zealand
Being the only team apart from India to have not lost even a single match, the Kiwis are not taking it easy. The crucial face-off between the two undefeated teams, unfortunately, ended in a draw because of the rains. Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor’s experience clubbed with the performance of Tim Southee and Kane Williamson make for a strong team.
In the form that they are currently, New Zealand could surely win its first World Cup ever.
We might be cheering for the “Big 4” of cricket but, who knows, we may have an underdog crushing them all and lifting the prestigious title. Let’s see how the championship unfolds. Till then, stay hooked to your TV screens. Do share your thoughts on your favourite team.
