Daisy-May Demetre, a 9-year-old model from Birmingham, made her debut at the Paris Fashion Week held inside the Eiffel Tower, where she modelled in a creation by designer Eni Hegedus-Buiron for luxury children’s wear label Lulu et Gigi.

But what is so special about this little child? She is a double amputee!

Daisy shared a picture of her on her Instagram account, which currently has over 20k followers. She mentioned in her post that she was the youngest person to walk the Paris Fashion Week and the only double amputee.

However, Daisy is not new to the fashion world. She has modelled for brands such as Nike and Boden. Also, she has already walked the ramp at the London and the New York Fashion week for Lulu et Gigi. The founder of the label, Eni Hegedus-Buiron, spotted her when she was modelling in London.

Daisy was, unfortunately, born with a condition called fibular hemimelia, whereby a part of or all of the fibular bone in the leg is missing. This condition led to the amputation of both her legs when she was a mere baby. She later received prosthetic legs on which she learned to walk.

Her father, Alex Demetre, is not very surprised by his courageous daughter’s success and the attention she is receiving. In an interview to CNN, he said, “She takes on life with a smile on her face and she does remarkable things. Whether it’s dancing, singing, she is a very special little girl.”

Clearly, she is not one of those that would let her misfortune get the better of her.

Isn’t this just a fantastic piece of news that just makes your day? Daisy is the quintessential example of how determination and a strong will can help one overcome any adversities.
