Rare Albino Penguin Makes Debut at Poland Zoo

Visitors to the Gdansk Zoo in northern Poland witnessed a pretty unique and intriguing sight recently – an albino penguin. This is a penguin that is totally white and does not have the conventional black markings.

The bird, whose name and gender is not known yet, reportedly weighs 1.1 pounds, is less than a foot tall, and is the world’s only albino penguin raised in captivity.

Michal Targowski, the director of the zoo, said that such penguins are, unfortunately, more prone to diseases because the pigmentation generally serves as a barrier against diseases. Also, he said that such birds would be most vulnerable to attacks by predators in the wild.

Have a look at the video and enjoy this beautiful sight!
