The world is locked down but if you were 2-year and 5-year old kids, wouldn’t you be surprised and a little upset at why you can’t just go out and have a good time with Mom and Dad?
So is the story of brothers Evan and Lucas from Paisley, Scotland. Their parents Callum and Clare-Marie Macaulay decided to treat the kids with an exclusive restaurant experience at home when the kids wanted to go out for a meal but couldn’t because of the lockdown. Callum and Clair-Marie created a ‘Mummy and Daddy’s Restaurant’ at home for their boys; Callum plays the Head Chef – Daddy, and Clare-Marie plays the Waitress – Mummy. The couple also came up with a super interesting self-designed menu for the restaurant.
Have a look at the menu for yourself:
Callum shared the background story with the Daily Record, UK: “Clare-Marie said she wanted to do something for the boys. Evan knows there’s something going on, but he’s only five so he doesn’t really understand it and Lucas is just two so he hasn’t a clue what’s happening or why we can’t do normal things.
We came up with the restaurant idea as a wee treat for them because they don’t understand why we can’t go out.”
I bet the boys loved the whole experience! And what a wonderful way to create some cherishable family memories. The Macaulay couple shared a video of the kids enjoying their restaurant-at-home experience, and as expected, it went viral.
The kids are treated like grown-ups visiting a restaurant. The menu is exclusively designed for Evan and Lucas – they are given a towel to wipe their hands, given the choicest of food items, and asked how they liked the food and the experience often. Well, Lucas is also served a glass of milk on his request, although that’s not on the menu! Such a five-star treatment, isn’t it?
Isn’t this a great way of engaging children in a lockdown? What do you think? Do let us know your views in the comments section below.
