Amazon opens biggest office building in Hyderabad

Amazon, in August, opened its biggest campus building anywhere in the world in the south Indian city of Hyderabad. The facility is spread across a massive 9.5 acres and comprises of three million square feet of built-up area.

This office – located in the city’s Financial District – is also the first office outside the United States of America that Amazon owns fully.

The office space, which is around 1.8 million square feet, can accommodate around 15,000 employees, which is one-fourth of Amazon’s full-time workforce in India. It will, eventually, be expanded to cover 68 acres.

The mammoth facility was ready in a record time of three years.

The city of Hyderabad, which is the capital of the state of Telangana, was also Amazon’s point of entry when it ventured into the Indian space in 2004.

The facility was inaugurated on 21st August by Mohammed Mahmood Ali, MLC, Minister of Home, Prisons, Fire Services, Government of Telangana, along with Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Head, Amazon India and John Schoettler, VP, Global Real Estate and Facilities, Amazon.

Hyderabad is currently house to many global giants such as Microsoft, Google, and Facebook. Further, Ikea’s first store in India opened in this city.
