The 50th World Economic Forum will be held in Davos, Switzerland from 20th January to 24th January 2020.

This summit is held each year and is attended by world leaders, business leaders, politicians, change makers, activists, and artists from all over the world to discuss the most pressing global issues.

Who is attending the summit this year?

Over 2,800 people will be participating in the summit this year. For the first time this year, a group of teenage change makers will be attending the conference. They include climate activist Greta Thunberg, 17; education activist Mohamad Al Jounde, 18; child activist Natasha Mwansa, 18; and environmental activist Melati Wijsen, 19 among others.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump is expected to attend the summit as is Sanna Marin, the Prime Minister of Finland, who is also the youngest head of state in the world at 34. Germany’s Angela Merkel and Spain’s Pedro Sanchez are expected to attend the summit.

Business leaders such as Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Google’s Sundar Pichai, and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg are due to attend the forum.

Also, Indian actress Deepika Padukone, founder of the Live Love Laugh Foundation, will be present to discuss mental health and wellness.

Theme for Davos 2020

The content for the 2020 forum are split across seven key themes: Healthy futures, How to save the planet, Beyond geopolitics, Tech for good, Society and Future of Work, Fairer economies, and Better business.

What is the World Economic Forum?

Founded in 1971 by Klaus Schwab, the World Economic Forum is a Switzerland based non-governmental organization. According to its website, it is the international organization for public-private cooperation.
