Social media is a double edged sword – it can be a boon or a bane depending on how it is used.

Recently, Giselle Aviles, a 21-year-old from Texas, made a heartwarming plea to her social media followers and netizens flooded to help her out, reinforcing how social media can be a tremendous blessing.

Giselle’s father, Elias Aviles had been running a taco truck in Humble, Texas, which is about 20 miles outside of Houston, for around six years. However, the coronavirus played havoc with the business and like many other small businesses, his revenue was dwindling massively.

Giselle would keep in touch with her father, asking him about the business and its sales. And due to the pandemic, she learned that her father’s truck was not doing well. When he told her that the truck had made a paltry $6 in one day, Giselle decided to do something to support and help the business.

To help her father, Giselle put up an endearing tweet, asking for help from Twitteratis.

“I wouldn’t normally do this, but my dad’s taco truck business is struggling, he only sold $6 today,” she wrote in a tweet on 12th September, Saturday about her father’s taco truck, Taqueria El Torito, putting up a picture of the same.
“If you could retweet, I would appreciate you so much!!”

Soon enough, the message had gone viral and been retweeted around 2,000 times in the next two days. And Giselle promptly told her father that he should be prepared for a deluge of customers the next day.

When Elias opened the truck on Monday, he was shocked to see a line of customers, some of them who had come in to grab the tacos as early as 6AM.

There were so many customers that Giselle came in to help her father. Would you believe that the truck had to shut twice that day – once for restocking and the other when they were out of food! They also had to close earlier than the usual business hours because they ran out of stock.

Giselle estimates that the truck served no less than a hundred customers that day.

She has also set up an Instagram account for the taco truck, which she hopes will help customers locate it easily.

Isn’t this a heartwarming story of how social media, when used correctly, can brighten up someone’s life? What do you think of this? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
