Former United States President, George H.W Bush secretly sponsored a seven-year-old boy – Timothy – from the Philippines for a decade. This was done through, Compassion International, a Colorado-Springs based non-profit organization. The 41st President of the U.S used a pseudonym – George Walker – to donate funds towards the boy’s education and extracurricular activities.

The President was first introduced to the idea of sponsoring a child in 2001. He soon initiated the process of sponsorship, consistently writing letters to Timothy and sending him presents. The President also sent him a picture of his dog Sadie, violating a few security measures in the process.
