Learn How to Practice Minimalism From this Couple Living in a School Bus

When was the last time you have appreciated the small things that give you joy? We must admit that true happiness lies in small things. We are all maximalists and brazen braggarts, especially in the wake of social media.

Can you imagine yourself living with your family in a school bus? Not just to cut corners but for the sheer joy of it? No? Then perhaps this couple in Renton, Washington will give you inspiration for living their lives on their own terms.

Brian and Starla Sullivan have taken the idea of sustainable living to a new high. They started living in a school bus and ditched expensive apartments. No, you can’t romanticize their ordeal because they did this in order to meet their basic necessities. Brian and Starla wanted to eat the food they like, travel to places, and pay off their debts. Living in an apartment took away hefty sums of money. So, a school bus, which is their humble domicile now, is abuzz with two frolicking toddlers.

People have frowned upon this nondescript way of living – they have even tried to dissuade Starla by saying one can’t raise kids in a bus. Starla, however, chose to brush aside the naysayers and gave it a shot!

Now, you will only see their faces beaming with joy. They have turned the school bus into a wholesome apartment with a full-sized bed, a fully functional kitchen, an oven and a microwave combination that saves space, a kitchen sink, a full-size washing machine, and a toilet that converts the human waste into compost to fertilize the plants. Even their kitchen cabinets look smart and methodical!

Ironically, Starla too once considered the people that lived in a bus crazy. However, once they faced miseries, the couple decided to fight back and started living in a bus to save Brian from working overtime.

Of course, they had their apprehensions too but they took life by the tail, and how!!
