A very rare copy of the comic book that introduced Superman for the first time has sold for a record breaking price of $3.25 million recently, making it the most valuable comic book ever!

According to the online auction house and consignment company ComicConnect.com, this issue of “Action Comics #1”  was originally released in 1938 and sold then for a mere 10 cents.

It narrowly surpassed the previous record for the comic, set in the auction of another copy of the same issue in 2014 for slightly over $3.2 million.

This particular copy was “buried in a stack of old 1930s movie magazines” and was in mint condition, online auction house ComicConnect.com said in a statement.

The seller of this book at the auction bought the book in 2018 for an estimated $2 million and made a profit of over $1 million.

The book introduces Superman, a fictional character created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, and details how he came to Earth from another planet and came to be known as Clark Kent.

“This is an 83-year-old comic book in near-pristine condition—and it’s a sight to behold,” said Vincent Zurzolo, coowner of ComicConnect, in the release. “Not to mention, this book launched the superhero genre that’s such a huge part of our culture.”

“There’s no comic book that you could value higher in terms of a comic book than Action Comics #1,” he said.

While there were hundreds of thousands of these books published, there are only very few copies remaining, and this copy was one of the best-preserved ones.

Phew! We would love to own an exclusive copy of this too. How about you?
