New year, new places to see. Apply this calculation freely when booking your 2023 travel.
After almost three years of troublesome travel restrictions, many countries have lifted a majority of them. Due to the large number of individuals that go abroad, there is a significant amount of unmet demand worldwide.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization predicted that by the end of 2022, international tourism will be at 65% of pre-pandemic levels, with certain places seeing levels that are closer to 80%/90% of their 2019 numbers. Regarding the prospects of the travel industry, experts are cautiously optimistic.
1. Guatemala
- Since Guatemala delivers a genuine “best of” without huge crowds and is one of the area’s most culturally diverse locations, Guatemala has long trailed behind its more well-known Latin American rivals. Guatemala needs to take the initiative now. To experience the region’s spectacular natural beauty and build enduring ties with its people, travel to Guatemala. The recently opened Villa Bokeh is among the most opulent luxury hotel options to date and a game-changer for Antigua.
2. Yukon Territory, Canada
- Canada’s Northwest Territories & the Yukon are a fantastic alternative due of their unrestricted and largely undiscovered sections of the country for experiencing more off beaten path discoveries & lifestyles. The Northwest Territories are abundant with animals, Indigenous-owned homes, and excellent locations to—seasonally dependent—witness the splendor of the Northern Lights. The Yukon is marked by historic landmarks, a lively culture, and stunning terrain.
3. Málaga, Spain
- The city that had the most traveler searches on Airbnb in 2023 was Malaga. Málaga has had a cultural rebirth over the past 10 years that has turned it into a thriving cultural hub on the magnificent Costa del Sol. Many new museums have been opened, one of which being the Pompidou Center, a treasure trove of modern art encased in a prismatic glass cube. Street art is equally stunning, with colorful murals dotting the entire district.

4. Benguerra Island, Mozambique
- The Bazaruto Archipelago in Mozambique is made up of five islands and is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and a variety of marine life. The 2nd largest of them all, Benguerra, has quietly gained notoriety as a wild and secretive wealthy getaway. You may have a truly quiet tropical vacation where the shoreline stretches for kilometers without a single person or building in sight by staying at the freshly opened Kisawa Sanctuary or andBeyond Benguerra Island. Request a ride on a dugong, a rare sea cow, or take a cruise on a dhow, an African fishing boat!
5. Basilicata, Italy
- Sicily and Puglia are quite common among travelers. We now predict that Basilicata will be the place to see in 2023. In addition to its historic caves, winding hilltop streets, and crumbling Baroque churches, the town of Matera, that also served as the backdrop for an exhilarating car chase in a recent Bond film, No Time to Die, is also known for its immaculate beaches, an intriguing history, and delectable fresh seafood.
6. Douro Valley, Portugal
- Visit the Douro Valley in northern Portugal this year to enjoy some of the most magnificent landscapes (and delicious wine) on the entire continent. Only a few hours’ journey east of Porto lies the region’s geographic center, and the trip there by vehicle is a treat in itself. It is like entering a new planet as you travel through the picturesque vineyards and charming towns that mark its hills on the winding, small streets that descend from the highlands. There is a ton of history here, with the medieval pilgrim town of Lamego, which has massive tiled staircases and spectacular buildings, being a particular highlight. However, it is mostly a location to unwind, relax, & enjoy Portugal style.
7. Patagonia National Park, Chile
- Chile cast aside 11M acres of property for national parks thanks to the largest private land contribution to a country. The philanthropist and entrepreneur Doug Tompkins, who developed North Face and Esprit, established the Tompkins Conservation Foundation, that paved the path for Chile to considerably expand the preservation of the beautiful Patagonia region. More than 750,000 acres of land make up the Patagonia National Park, which is now part of the Patagonia National Parks Network.
