21st September is celebrated as International Day of Peace by the United Nations across the world. This day aims to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 and the first World Peace Day was observed in 1982.

Theme for International Day of Peace

The theme for the International Day of Peace 2019 is ‘Climate Action For Peace.’ This was chosen as the theme because “the global climate emergency is a threat to security and stability.”

It seeks to bring to light the importance of fighting against climate change together in order to promote peace across the world.

On this World Peace Day, let’s hope that all hostilities in the world are sorted, and the world is a more peaceful place to live in.
