On the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, Burj Khalifa – the iconic skyscraper in Dubai – lit up to pay a tribute to the prominent leader.
The world’s tallest building showed images of the tricolour, honouring the important role that he played in India’s freedom struggle. Some famous quotes by the leader such as ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world’ were also displayed.

To commemorate this special occasion, the Indian Consulate in Dubai planted 151 trees across the city.
Also, in Kyiv in Ukraine, a bronze statue of the leader was unveiled jointly by Indian Ambassador Partha Satpathy, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova, Deputy Minister for Education and Science of Ukraine Andriy Vitrenko and Professor Petro Bekh, Vice-Rector, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

2nd October is observed across the world as the International Day of Non-Violence to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi and his ideals of non-violence and ahimsa.
