In an effort to promote inclusivity and diversity, Crayola – an American handicraft company specializing in art supplies – has come up with a new line of multicultural skin tone crayons!

Called ‘Colours of the World,’ these crayons are sold in 24-count and 32-count packs and contain crayon colours that represent more than 40 skin tones from across the world.

With this endeavour, the brand hopes to create a more inclusive world for children of all ethnicities, cultures, and races.

Medium gold, light almond, and deep rose are a few of the colours available in this newly released set of crayons. Apart from English, the crayon label also lists the name of the skin tone in French and Spanish.

“With the world growing more diverse than ever before, Crayola hopes our new Colors of the World crayons will increase representation and foster a greater sense of belonging and acceptance,” Crayola CEO Rich Wuerthele said.

“We want the new Colors of the World crayons to advance inclusion within creativity and impact how kids express themselves.”

Crayola collaborated with Victor Casale, the former chief chemist of MAC cosmetics and CEO of MOB Beauty to create these range of crayons.

“I have spent my life trying to create truly global shade palettes because I know what it’s like to be with a person who has finally found their exact match. They feel included and recognized, and I am hoping every child who uses these crayons and finds their shade will have that feeling,” Casale said.

“Growing up, I remember mixing the pink and dark brown crayons to try and make my shade, so I was thrilled when Crayola asked for my help to create the Colors of the World crayons.”

Crayola also put up a post on Instagram to confirm this.
