Renowned American photographer Mark Seliger will auction off iconic portraits of famous celebrities to raise money for relief efforts against the coronavirus pandemic.

Seliger is very popular for his portraits generally published in magazines such as Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. He has also shot for magazines such as Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Italian Vogue, and Vanity Fair.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that in his 30-year-long career, he has photographed most cultural icons.

25 portraits of eminent people and celebrities such as Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kurt Cobain, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Jerry Seinfeld, and Billie Eilish among others will be auctioned as part of this initiative. And the proceeds will be donated to a charity of the choosing of the celebrity to help raise money for the battle against the deadly virus.

“My career has been built on connecting with and understanding people and their stories with the desire to represent them in a way that is authentic and, in some cases, a bit fantastic,” said Seliger in a press release.

“My team and I have curated a special group of prints for this auction that illustrate some of my favorite subjects and moments from the last 30 years.”

This wonderful initiative is a collaboration among Mark Seliger Studio, Red Carpet Advocacy (RAD), and the auction house Christie’s, which will auction off the portraits from 28th May 2020 to 12th June 2020.

This auction will take place online.

“We just felt like it would be a great way for people to have some fun with it. To give to charity and be able to feel like they are getting something in return, which is a beautiful print,” Seliger told Architectural Digest.
