Google commemorated the 400th birth anniversary of the very eminent Spanish painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo by a doodle representing his most famous work the “Two women at a window” made in circa 1655-60. The painting is exhibited in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C, USA.

Murillo’s exact date of birth is not known while it is believed to be in the year 1617. The artist was known for his intricate colour palette and ‘bringing-in life to’ paintings. Murillo mostly painted historical and religious scenes, portraits, and still-life in oil and fresco during the Spanish Golden Age, an era where arts and literature flourished. Further, Murillo cultivated his own style of painting and drew inspiration from Venetian and Flemish influences.

His other most famous works include the grandeur of ‘The Immaculate Conception’, ’The Holy Family with dog’ and ‘The Adoration of the Shepherds’.
