Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, most countries across the world have made wearing masks in communal spaces mandatory.
While all of us understand that masks are important to stem the spread of the virus, we also know that they are extremely uncomfortable to wear. This is more so for people who wear spectacles, who often experience foggy glasses, apart from breathing difficulties, when wearing the conventional face masks.
To reduce all these annoying problems that plague mask wearers, LG Electronics, based in South Korea, has come up with a battery powered filtered face mask!
LG Electronics’ PuriCare Wearble is designed with two electronic fans – one on each side of the face – in order to circulate fresh air into the mask. Moreover, the mask features H13 high-efficiency particle filters that can prevent 99.95 per cent of airborne particles, even those as small as 0.1 microns, from coming in contact with the user.
“Breathing is the biggest concern when it comes to wearing a face mask and disposable masks come with a huge environment cost,” Choi Yoon-hee, a senior official at LG Electronics’ air solution product team, told Reuters.
These masks are also not too heavy – they weigh as much as a pair of ski goggles. Also, they are rechargeable – the 820 milliamps per hour battery can be charged by means of a case that is provided with the mask. The battery life is two hours when used in its highest setting and eight hours when used in the low-power setting.
The company also claims that these masks are recyclable, unlike the other disposable masks that are posing a huge threat to the environment by polluting the oceans.
However, the price of these masks has not been divulged by the company yet. They are to hit the market in the later part of this year.
“At a time when consumers are seeking ways to make life safer and more convenient, it’s important that we’re able to offer solutions that add measurable value,” said Dan Song, president of LG’s home appliance and air solutions arm.
This really is an innovative solution to the problems that most of us who wear masks face. Would you be game to buying these masks? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
