Recently, an approximate release date for the Sony PlayStation 6 was leaked from official documents.
As part of an ongoing Microsoft-Activision merger probe, information was found in records from the UK's Competition Markets Authority.
The PS5 will likely have a lifespan of seven years because it looks like the PS6 won't release until late 2027 or early 2028.
"Up until 2027, Microsoft has offered to keep Activision's titles only available on the PlayStation platform. By the time SIE unveiled the PlayStation console's next generation (which is likely to occur around [redacted])."
The Official Documents Read:
Sony's main concern is Call of Duty, even though this deal will provide Xbox games like Overwatch, Diablo, and WOW
As COD's fan following is sufficiently sizable, it might affect widespread console switching from PS to Xbox.
